  • Pros and cons after an escapade on the Corbu beach

As we are in the busiest period of the summer season, this weekend we chose to spend a few hours on the beach at Corbu. After we successfully passed the traffic between Mamaia and Năvodari, we passed the Năvodari Refinery. The first piece of advice comes specifically for this road – be very careful that the speed limit is 70 km/h and if the fresh asphalt invites you to press harder on the accelerator pedal, you see that there is a fixed point for the Traffic Police radar in the area. We chose to go to the beach on the asphalt road that leads to the military unit at Corbu. Don't forget that you will enter the Danube Delta Bioreserve and you need a permit for the car, but also for passengers. You can purchase them online HERE or from the jukebox at the entrance to the concrete road.

Arriving at the Corbu coast, you are forced to go down a bumpy dirt road. You have a good chance of leaving your oil pan on the road if you don't know how to get around ruts and rocks.

Then until you reach the beach you have an improvised parking lot. There is a lot of parking, although it costs 10 lei/day. Everyone parks as they please and there are no employees to maintain order. And if what I've told you so far hasn't discouraged you, let me also tell you what I discovered in the area.

The anchovy flower, the perfect elderberry lemonade, and a place for friends

Right next to the parking lot you will discover Blue at Sea. A beach bar that I noticed in the pictures posted by my friends on instagram. From the moment I stepped on the carpets carelessly but calculatedly thrown on the sand, I felt like I was arriving on a beach in Portugal. The relaxation of the employees and customers, the music that seems perfect for a Sunday afternoon, the cleanliness and good mood are contagious. The bartender with a cabaret hat had just prepared a cocktail with a secret recipe (strawberry puree, vodka and mineral water – he also said it). 😊) which he decided to share with colleagues, but also with customers.

After a few hours of beach time (I will write a chapter about this experience ) we decided to go back to their place to eat. We chose an Anchovy Flower, a portion of carp roe and two lemonades. We paid 104 lei.

The dishes are extremely tasty and arranged simply and beautifully on the wooden trays. Although it is not written anywhere that it is self service, it would be preferable to take the plates back after you have finished eating. At least that's what we did! And not only us! Another important aspect is the toilet – clean and equipped.

It wouldn't be bad if in the future the people from the beach bar will also think about an accommodation option in a tent because it's worth spending a long weekend at them.

The silence broken by the portable speakers from which the handels resound

The beach at Corbu is not landscaped - you will not find sunbeds. Everyone does what they can! Some with beach umbrellas, others with makeshift tents made of sheets. The motley world that somehow breaks the picture you once met at Corbu. We walked about 500 meters past the crowded area and when we thought we would only find the "noise" made by the waves, several young people remembered that their portable speaker can fill the whole beach with waves.

Another important aspect – there are no toilets and trash cans on the beach. In other words, please don't leave snot or other human traces on the beach.

I have been working in the media for more than 20 years. I started at TV Neptun, and for 18 years I worked at Pro TV. Every year, I try to see what good things have been done on the coast, what needs to be corrected and if there are models that we can follow. Funkytravel.ro is a digital "book" where you will discover analyzes about tourism, interviews with people who work in this industry, accommodation tips, but also some of the adventures we have experienced
